We are seeking an eager to learn, detailed customer-oriented professional to join our Verona office as a Mortgage Closer!  This position will be responsible for preparing closing packages for all types of mortgage loans, verifying the accuracy/completion of closing documents after closed and ensuring loans are ready for disbursing.


  • Order Payoffs.
  • Verify underwriting conditions are cleared prior to drafting initial Closing Disclosure and documents for all Secondary Market and SBCP’s Portfolio mortgage loans.
  • Request seller numbers from title companies on purchase transactions.
  • Send Closing Disclosure to customer according to regulations.
  • Ensure/verify HMDA information has been accurately completed.
  • Prepare and send closing packages to lender/closing agent.
  • Review all closing documents for completeness/accuracy.
  • Track closing packages ensuring we receive back in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all underwriting conditions have been cleared prior to disbursing of loan.
  • Prepare files for disbursement after closing occurs and documents are received.
  • Promote/cross sell bank products and services as related to customers’ needs/wants.
  • Assist in prepping loan files for scanning.
  • Answer phones in a backup capacity as they come into the department.
  • Provide backup to the various responsibilities of the mortgage area such as assisting processors with verifications of employment, logging in recorded documents and final title policies, administrative tasks, etc.
  • Maintain neat and accurate mortgage files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.


  • Associates degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Real Estate and/or similar field of education and/or 1-2 years previous work experience in a similar mortgage/financial setting.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to be able to interact and communicate with a diverse group of customers and associates.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, good typing skills and the ability and willingness to learn new programs and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make good decisions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and remain calm while working in a fast-paced/deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands to meet deadlines while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow up skills and the ability to proof own work as well as others.
  • Previous work experience in mortgage operations, mortgage processing or loan operations and/or previous experience working with loan/mortgage closing documents preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a financial institution setting preferred.

This position is a full time position with hours of 8am – 5pm Monday-Friday. In depth training will be provided.
