We are seeking a relationship-orientated credit/lending professional to join our bank family as a Chief Lending Officer.   This role will lead, manage and direct the credit lending functions of the Bank.  This role will also prospect for new business relationships, maintain and expand existing customer relationships all while ensuring quality of loans and limiting risk to the bank and shareholders. 


  • Plan, develop and recommend policies and procedures for the safe and sound credit operations and administration of the Bank.
  • Pro-actively manage the profitability and quality of the Bank’s loan portfolio.
  • Serve as a member of Asset / Liability, CRA, Loan Loss Reserve, Commercial Real Estate Concentration Committee, Sr. Leader/Strategic Planning, and Sr. Lender Committees.
  • Prepare and present loan and business development reports to the Board of Directors as needed/requested.
  • Approve loans of all types within assigned lending authority.
  • Prospect potential new customers for all areas of the bank through letters, cold calling efforts, referral sources and other sources deemed necessary.
  • Maintain and service a profitable loan portfolio to ensure quality and limited risk to the bank and shareholders.
  • Manage the Budget process with regard to commercial loan and deposit growth and profitability.
  • Utilize external programs to limit the exposure to the bank and to ensure the customer’s best interests are taken into account (i.e. SBA, WHEDA, Leases).
  • Initiate cross selling opportunities through meetings with customers and fellow employees by reviewing the customer’s banking relationships.
  • Maintain continuous contact of the bank’s best customers through phone calls, letters and meetings.
  • Work past dues, overdrafts, insurance exceptions and financial exceptions to ensure that they are resolved in a timely manner to limit exposure to the bank.
  • Pro-actively manage a team to meet departmental objectives, including coaching, mentoring, development and candid assessments of staff.
  • Remain active in community and community organizations to enhance bank image and identity.


Ideal candidates will posses a bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or similar field,  10 years or more of experience in the banking industry with 5 or more years in credit/lending, excellent knowledge of credit/loan operations, work processes, internal controls and banking regulations, results orientated sales ability with success in establishing and building customer relationships, exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with a variety of stakeholders, ability to author policies, procedures and prepare credit/loan reports for Board of Directors and regulatory agencies.   As this position will be a member of our Executive Team, candidates must be able to demonstrate professional decorum and represent the bank in a positive manner.   Previous experience in a similar senior management position preferred.
